Refresh and Renovate
You may have a holiday home that requires updating or you may be looking to purchase a property that requires work but you can’t manage it living so far away. It may be a stressful process if you are trying to manage trades people on a deadline whilst you’re far away from your project. We are here to project manage your home transformation and provide the eyes and ears on your behalf.
We have many years of experience managing full renovations and smaller interior design projects. We will work with you to achieve your desired aesthetic and choose local trades people that we know and trust.
Our stylist will listen to your requirements and make your dreams a reality! Her role will bring the expertise to beautiful renovation projects and curate your perfect design. We will provide inspirational ideas, obtain trade discounts on furniture and soft furnishings, work to a budget and keep you firmly in the loop from start to finish. Deborah is an accomplished stylist and will pass on her years of experience without you having to make costly mistakes;
Deborah’s 10 Top Styling Tips For Your Home
- 1. Less is more. Aim for room to breathe without too much clutter
- 2. Think about how you want to feel in each room. Are you aiming to be relaxed or energised?
- 3. Include the pieces you love, not too many gifts you are trying to find a home for!
- 4. Have an overall plan for the room before you start. What is the focal point of the room? What would you like to draw attention to? For example an incredible view or a stunning painting.
- 5. Maybe start with choosing a picture that you love and work the room around it.
- 6. Neutral walls as a blank canvas are great as you can introduce coloured accessories like cushions. These are easily changeable seasonally or if you want a different look altogether. My favourite colour is a splash of orange!
- 7. I love to bring elements of nature into any home. Stones from the beach or wildflowers are favourites, and I love collecting twigs and rushes to put in big vintage vases.
- 8. It is important to have elements of the room working at different heights. For example, fixing a floating shelf. Textures are also important, I personally love linen.
- 9. Identify our personal style, which for me is either Skandi, Wabi Sabi or Boho, with elements of Minimal. I’m definitely focussed on nature and bringing the outside in.
- 10. Think green! Nothing finishes a space better than beautiful plants, which bring life and freshness to even the smallest room in the house.

Whilst we knew what we had in mind, we had little idea of where to begin and no prior experience of renovating a property. We were also keen to involve a local company as project managers to guide us as to what would be required and to oversee the project as it progressed. That said, we wanted to remain very involved in the work rather than simply handing over a blank cheque and having a team get on with it without our input.
We met the team from Coastal Living Holidays in December 2022 and immediately knew we had found our people! Charlotte, Deborah and the team were full of enthusiasm for our barn and equally full of ideas. To make life more difficult for them, we imposed a rather tight timeframe on the work as well......but they were unphased and delivered the project on time. In terms of development of the project, we spent a few weeks sharing mood boards, colour schemes and Pinterest photos alongside numerous video conference calls and a few in person meetings. Charlotte and Deborah just know exactly how to make colours and layouts work; it is very much a "design-led" approach - we were able to share our ideas and they picked them up and ran with them. Their practical knowledge of holiday letting was invaluable as they helped us pick items which would be both durable and aesthetically striking. The result is a property which looks beautiful and individual, full of carefully curated pieces of furniture and art, but which is practical, easy to clean and easy to live in. We have three young (messy) boys and two large (messy) dogs but the interior design can withstand this and still look fabulous! Ultimately, the team at Coastal Living were responsible for designing, decorating and furnishing a home which was above anything I had imagined. They literally made my Pinterest board come to life! They worked incredibly hard, nothing was too much trouble and they all really went above and beyond in terms of sourcing the most wonderful furniture and artwork from local suppliers and artists. We had complete confidence in them (which is vital when you are some distance away from your property) and they were just wonderful people to work with.
