The towns in South Devon offer beautiful landscapes, stunning views, unique shops and exceptional cafes and restaurants to enjoy the renowned local Devon produce. Dartmouth, Kingsbridge & Salcombe never disappoint in offering visitors the very best that the South Hams has to offer.

Salcombe

The beautiful town of Salcombe sits on the banks of the Kingsbridge Estuary and is located within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is known for its stunning coastal views and is famous for its incredible properties that line the coastline.

The town offers an exclusive feel and boasts locally run shops alongside popular chain stores in a picturesque setting. The South Hams town is wonderful for strolling along, admiring the views and stopping off for the well-renowned Salcombe Dairy ice cream. There is so much to experience, from the passenger ferry over the water to East Portlemouth and Mill Bay beach to sitting on the beaches of North & South Sands. There is always a quality place to eat and drink, so much to explore and you will create holiday memories that will last a lifetime. The annual Salcombe Regatta in August creates a wonderful atmosphere and attracts a fabulous turnout every year. Salcombe in south Devon really is a very special place in many people’s hearts, who return year after year over the generations and no matter what the weather, it never disappoints!

Kingsbridge

The market town of Kingsbridge in South Devon provides a selection of independent shops and restaurants on a steep high street which also offers free roadside parking in addition to the large main quay car park. From clothing boutiques to bakeries and cafes, this town has something to offer everyone who visits. Quayside leisure centre has a gym and a fantastic indoor swimming pool with kids float sessions, ideal on those rainy days. There is a cinema on the high street and Kingsbridge has two outdoor play parks with plenty of space for the children to explore.

The estuary provides a scenic backdrop to this busy town, the perfect place to walk, relax and enjoy the best of the South Hams scenery.

Dartmouth

This stunning harbour town in south Devon situated on the banks of the River Dart provides a picturesque view wherever you are in the town.

There are plenty of things to see; the 600-year-old Dartmouth Castle is a must, it is situated at the mouth of the estuary and provides a stunning backdrop to this beautiful town. Dartmouth Naval College can be seen on the hill, the view is especially good if you get the passenger or car ferry over to Kingswear on the other side.

The annual Dartmouth Regatta attracts many visitors in August and delivers a party atmosphere with a funfair, street food stalls and the Royal Navy putting on various displays throughout the event. The firework display on the final night is always impressive! The local shops and restaurants are welcoming and the town puts on many events throughout the year. These include the famous Dartmouth Music Festival each May with local and national artists putting on a great show in local bars and outside areas and the Dartmouth Food Festival each October with celebrity chefs giving cooking demonstrations and local food stalls offering their goods for you to try and buy.
