What is on in The South Hams over the Christmas Holidays?
Totnes has the legendary late night shopping Christmas market, which is an experience in itself, every Tuesday evenings now until the 25th.
Christmas comes to town as Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas 2021 on Dec the 4th. It will have the Farmers market set up on the town square, stalls lining Fore Street, Father Christmas and live entertainment.
The well known Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market runs until the 18th December, about an hour drive away but worth the trip. The city is illuminated in Christmas lights, the many restaurants and late night shopping gives visitors the perfect setting for a festive evening. A tip from us; the Churros stall inside the Christmas market is a must! The queue is long but definitely worth it for the most delicious churros and chocolate dipping sauce we’ve ever tasted.
Salcombe is charming this time of year. The town is alive with festive magic and it’s a great time to take advantage of the wide open spaces and empty beaches. We love Christmas eve on Fore Street, the shops have been known to start their sales early so you can pick up last minute bargains whilst enjoying a mulled wine and a mince pie. There is something rather wonderful about Salcombe in the winter, the peaceful backdrop of the estuary and the warm hospitality of the local pubs gives visitors a different experience to those busy summer holidays.
The cobbled walkway of Foss Street in Dartmouth offers pure Devonshire charm. Galleries, cafe’s and unique boutique shops. December 4th is the Christmas Fair at The Old Market, Dartmouth from 10am -3pm, gifts, cakes, crafts, jewellery and more! Raising funds for Children’s Hospice.
The Sail Loft in Dartmouth is a firm favourite of ours, it is offering some exciting menu’s in the weeks leading up to Christmas featuring local guest chefs and a Christmas party on the 23rd with DJ. Perfect for those looking for a party atmosphere and promises to be a brilliant evening.
