South Devon is well-known for its Mediterranean climate, stunning coastline, sun kissed beaches and its picturesque market towns. It is also a magical place for creating lasting memories and the perfect romantic holiday with your loved one. Have you thought about a weekend get away for November?
We can help you arrange sunset cruises, book excellent restaurants with candle lit suppers and romantic evenings by an open fire or paddle boarding down the estuary. The Southwest coast path is right on your doorstep, fantastic local breweries and vineyards and so many local villages to explore. Whether planning a romantic weekend getaway or a whole week we would love to help you plan your trip by suggesting the best excursions and of course the best selection of properties for your stay.
A tranquil retreat in the woods with the bubbling sound of the brook below. Recently renovated to a high specification. The perfect getaway for a romantic holiday or a place to paint, read, write and explore the South Hams. Only 2 miles away from Slapton Beach and Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve. Nestled in the heart of the South Hams The Den is one of nine privately owned properties in a rare, hidden woodland valley with a river running through it.
Bowden Wood is a beautiful high specification lodge in a stunning location, enjoying countryside views and only 4 miles from the coastal town of Dartmouth. The accommodation offers guests a peaceful retreat in style, with every wish catered for and superb attention to detail. The location is simply magical, leaving you feeling relaxed and refreshed and looking forward to your next stay.
We recommend our favourite places to eat that will not disappoint.
Brunch: Yarn in Dartmouth has a delicious homemade breakfast selection and is set in an intimate wine bar from which you can explore the town. Walk up to the castle where we recommend stopping for a cuppa and cake at the Dartmouth Castle Tearooms before experiencing the incredible view from the headland. A great place to spot seals if you are lucky.
Lunch: We recommend getting a ferry down the river to the village of Dittisham and The Anchor Stone Café. Enjoy your lunch by the water watching the boats sail by.
After lunch ring the bell on the pontoon and the ferryman can take you over to the tranquil gardens of Greenway. This was the home of Agatha Christie and you can explore the house or just sit by the river and relax.
We must recommend The Fizz Boat for a gentle trip up the river from Dartmouth with a glass of sparkling bubbles and platters to order.
Supper: Lastly for a romantic dinner for two we suggest either the Seahorse in Dartmouth for fine dining or The Sailloft, a trendy new wine bar located off Foss Street for Pizza and wine.
For the ultimate fine dining experience, we highly recommend booking our resident chef JP Bidart. He will arrive at your property and cook you an exquisite restaurant quality meal. A traditional French cuisine with a twist, he will of course adapt this to your personal tastes.
All the above we suggest you book well in advance.
